Although his fame spanned only four years, many consider Jimi Hendrix as the most influential electric guitarist in the history of rock n roll music and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century. Hendrix met Keith Richard's girlfriend Linda Keith in New York City in 1966, who introduced him to Animals manager Chas Chandler. Chandler invited Hendrix to England in September 1966. With Chandler's help, he formed the Experience by adding bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell. Chandler also convinced Hendrix to change his first name from Jimmy to the more catchy Jimi.

The Experience released two singles, "Hey Joe" and "Purple Haze," which hit the charts. They decided to record a full-length album titled "Are You Experienced," which introduced the world to Hendrix's virtuoso guitar playing and the band's bluesy-styled rock music. It spent 33 weeks on the charts, peaking at number two—the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band prevented Hendrix's album from reach the top spot.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience joined the sixteen date United Kingdom package tour that kicked off on November 14, 1967, at Albert Hall. The tour package featured The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Pink Floyd, The Move, Nice, and Amen Corner. All bands were considered top acts. Jimi Hendrix played the Albert Hall several times during his career, including his last UK performance in February 1969.

Vintage Rock Posters offers a $15,000 reward for original concert posters of the Albert Hall show. A British printer produced the 30 x 40 quad poster for advertising the band package in London.

If you have an original Hendrix, Pink Floyd, and the Move band package poster for any of the cities listed above, please take pictures of it and send them to rareboard@aol.com.

Chris Welch, a week later in the Melody Maker wrote, "The Hendrix-Move tour thundered off on its trip around Britain with a deafening start...The Floyd gave one of their colourful and deafening displayes of musical pyrotechnics, and indeed all the groups were painfully loud...The Eire Apparent practically damaged my hearing system for life; the Nice, my favourite group, blew their cool; the Amen Corner raved like a show band, and the Move thundered along in a shower of 'Flowers in the rain'. Jimi was great and deserved the ovation, but really Mitch and Noel shouldnt make announcements. Sorry lads, but Jimi sounds better with the chat."

Hendrix was impressed too. Several years later, in an interview printed in the Melody Maker, he says, "They don't know it, but people like Pink Floyd are the mad scientists of this day and age."

After their London concert, the package tour played in 15 more cities between November 15 and December 5, playing two shows at each venue. Many consider this band package one of the best to tour the UK.
