This was Bob Dylan's first time playing the prestigious Newport Folk festival in Newport Rhode Island. Dylan played on the bill with many other great folk acts of the day. Unlike many of the other Dylan concert posters of the day, The 1963 Newport Folk Festival poster is tall and skinny and was printed on thin paper stock. The art work was done by world renowned artist and folk artist himself Eric Von Schmidt who is perhaps Best known for his Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec inspired poster for bob dylan and Joan Baez's 1965 east coast tour. The poster was actually only used to advertise a few gigs before it was scrapped.

This Bob Dylan and Joan Baez boxing style concert poster from the New Haven Arena in March, 1965 was one of the few times that this actual design was used to advertise an upcoming concert. It was suppose to be used to advertise Dylan's east coast tour but because Dylan disapproved of the art work the image was scrapped and the more standard 1965 Dylan tour blank poster was used. The art was done by the very talented Eric Von Schmidt  and though many copies of this poster are known to exist WITHOUT the concert info at the top, finding one with concert information printed in is a very tough task. If you happen to have this Bob Dylan New Haven Arena vintage concert poster, please give me a call and you will be paid $5,000 in cash within 24 hours. Any condition accepted.

Perhaps the most significant moment in Folk and Rock music history occurred at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival when Bob Dylan went electric for the very first time. His fans were dismayed. In fact, the Dylan's set at the folk festival was recorded and filmed and you can actually hear the disgruntled crowd in the background when Dylan starts to play. There were actually two versions of the 1965 Newport Folk festival poster. One featured a cranberry red background with black lettering and the other version was a simple white background with black lettering. Both posters measure approximately 14x22 and were printed on thick cardboard. There are no printers credits on either poster. It is assumed that the posters were printed locally most likely by the Franklin Printing Company, which was responsible for printing the 1964 Newport Folk Festival posters.

Printer: Bob MassE

The image on the 1965 Bob Dylan Queen Elizabeth Theatre concert poster was created by the world famous concert poster artist Bob Masse. This Bob Dylan Queen Elizabeth Theatre concert was on April 9, 1965 in Vancouver, Canada. Masse inadvertently spelled Dylan’s name on the poster wrong. Please note that BOB DYLON is printed on the poster on the left. The poster had to be reprinted to correct the mistake. The Bob Dylan Queen Elizabeth Theatre concert poster is printed on thin paper and is undersized compared to typical Dylan posters. The poster is tall and skinny much like the Newport Folk Festival 1963 concert poster. Masse created some of the better know psychedelic concert posters of the 1960's. Many had bright colors with beautiful women featured on them. A good example of Masse’s work is his striking 1967 Dante's Inferno Grateful dead concert poster. If you happen to have an original vintage Bob Dylan Queen Elizabeth Theatre concert poster or any other vintage 1962-66 bob dylan concert poster, please contact me and you will be paid $5,000 cash within 24 hours guaranteed. Bob Dylan's October 31, 1964 concert at Philharmonic Hall in New York City is considered by many to be his finest performance ever. The concert was recorded by Columbia records and was released many years later on CD. The poster was printed by Murray Poster Printing Company out of New York City and was actually printed on two very different paper stocks. One version was printed on white cardboard using red ink for the lettering and the other version was a more "paper bag like stock (much thinner paper than version 1) with red lettering. It is interesting to note that unlike most of their posters from the day, Murray posters chose not to use a stock photo on their posters for this concert but rather stuck with the block like lettering.

This is an interesting Bob Dylan concert poster for two reasons. The concert was held at Yale during Princeton Weekend. Many people at first glance believe the concert was at Princeton. The concert was held at Woolsey Hall. Yalies would have gone to see the Yale-Princeton football game then take in Bob Dylan at Indian Neck Folk Festival later that night in November, 1964. The line on the poster - "yes it is I who is poundin' at your door if it is you inside who hears the noise" comes from a poem called 11 Outlined Epitaphs by Bob Dylan. The poster was produced by Yale University. This was the first and last time Bob Dylan played at Yale in the 1960s
