Jim Hendrix and the Experience traveled to Cologne on January 13, 1969. They played at the Sporthalle with Eire Apparent. Hendrix attended an autograph session at Studio Du Monde Book & Record Shop, filmed and later featured on the German television program Beat Club. In 2012, the Experience Hendrix Company released the live concert posthumously. It is the twelfth official bootlegs released by Experience Hendrix Company run by Hendrix's sister Janie.

The concert's song set is well documented. Hendrix kicked off the proceedings with a scalding Earl King song "Come On" from Electric Ladyland. He began with a driving solo introduction before signaling Redding and Mitchell to join him. Next followed a blistering version of "Foxey Lady."

He changed guitars and played a memorable rendition of "Red House." "Voodoo Child followed next. Hendrix shifted directly into "Fire" and then a thunderous "Spanish Castle Magic." The band was locked in sync, pushing each other throughout, all to their audience's delight. "Hey, Joe" came next with Hendrix quickly tuning on the fly, dashing off a few licks from the Beatles' "I Feel Fine" as he barreled to a rousing finale. They played "Sunshine Of Your Love" in tribute to Cream. Ending the concert with "Star-Spangled Banner" and "Purple Haze."
